How To Get Mold Out Of Clothes
Aydan Corkern
With winter coming on us again, it is time to take out our winter clothes. Some people put up their winter clothes in bags in the attic over the summer months. When they take them out of the bags you will most of the time get this smell of mold or maybe a musty smell. If this happens to you then I will tell you that you can do a couple of things.
When you put your winter clothes away for the summer, you might want to go to the store and buy vacuum bags. Sometimes these can be expensive but in the long run, they will be worth the expense. If you have a lot of sweaters or coats that you don't want to lose because these items usually aren't washable, then these bags will pay for themselves each year.
If these items of clothes that you might find in our attic or at some yard sale have this odor to them, you can either wash them a couple of times to see if the smell has gone away. If this mold is too bad you will be better off to throw this item away and buy yourself a new one. If you find an item in a yard sale you might not want to even think about buying this item in the first place. This might be why it is in the sale: because this person had forgotten that they even had the item, and it was taking up space.
Most people will hold on to items for so long, and these items will start to give off a musty smell. They think that it might still be worth something to someone else. You would be surprised that in most cases, they are right. I myself have been guilty of this. I have gone to a yard sale and bought something that I didn't even have a use for, but I bought the item because I thought that maybe I might use it later on. I ended up never using it and throwing this item away. I have bought clothes that I thought I might wear and ended up doing the same thing: throwing it away.
If you really want to keep mold out of your clothes, the smartest thing to do is not have so many clothes that you might never wear some of them. Clean out your closet once a year and get rid of them. If the clothes are no good don't keep them around.
