Anybody can create blog quickly and easily with all the blog creation tools available today. But once your blog is created, getting traffic to the blog is another issue entirely. Just because you built a blog doesn't mean anyone will visit it. You must create traffic by promoting the blog and the more traffic you drive to the blog the more money you'll make. Here are three methods I've personally used to drive traffic to my blog. They'll work for you too.
1. Post New Content Regularly
Once you've created your blog, it's not time to forget about it. A new blog needs regular blog posts until it becomes established in the search engines. Try to update your blog with a new post daily for the first month. You have to give blog readers and search engines a reason to come back to your blog frequently and new posts are the best way.
Search engines generally love blogs but only blogs that are updated with new content on a regular basis. A blog that isn't updated with new posts regularly is as stale as any other site and won't get much attention from either the search engines or visitors. The more interesting or informative your posts are the more likely visitors are to return in the future to see what you have to say.
2. Find Related Blogs and Make Useful Comments
Another effective strategy is to make comments on relevant blogs. A simple search on your favorite search engine should reveal several blogs on similar topics. All other things being equal, you'll want to leave comments on higher PR blogs since those links will be more valuable.
When you find a new blog take a few minutes to read a few posts. Since it's a topic similar to your blog, you shouldn't have any trouble making a useful comment to one of the posts. Leave your name and a link to your blog with the comment. You'll notice that some readers will like your comment and want to click your link and visit your blog.
3. RSS
Really Simple Syndication or RSS is a popular way to share your blog with readers. It allows visitors to subscribe to your blog's RSS feed. Several autoresponder services such as aweber have the capability to send an email notification whenever a new blog post is created.
RSS works very similar to an opt-in list. You just put a simple form on your blog and allow visitors to provide their name and an email address. Now they'll be notified every time a new post is made to your blog. It's very simple to do and is a great way to increase blog traffic. Visit CyberCashology.com to see an example.
There are many more ways to drive traffic to blogs and I'll cover those in future articles.
