A baby will change a woman's life forever, so that's why - when it comes to finding out if they're pregnant, they'll do anything just to learn for sure. Gone are the days when a missed period was the only source of information. Nowadays, pregnancy tests are the answer, and it's easy to understand why: they're reliable and they'll give you the answer within 5 minutes. Who wouldn't like that?
There are two types of pregnancy tests: blood tests (which can only be taken on a clinic) and urine ones (which can be taken even in the privacy of your own home). Both of them are working by the same principle : they have to detect the presence and levels of hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) in a woman's body. This hormone, known as the pregnancy hormone too, appears in her body only when she gets pregnant and it is produced by the placenta after a fertilized egg implants in the uterine wall, implantation which does not occur until 6 days after ovulation.
The main difference between the two types is the sample used for detecting the pregnancy hormone - urine sample(used in home tests) versus blood sample(used in specialized clinics); a big difference between the two is that this hormone(like any other one) is present in the blood before being present in the urine, resulting in slightly faster (and therefore more accurate) result in clinic tests. Anyway, the most used tests are still home tests, since they're much cheaper, more intimate, and some of them have an almost 99% efficiency rate. The difficulty level is incredibly low, since digital tests spell out for you "pregnant" or "not pregnant" - what possibly could you want more?
Pregnancy tests are an excellent modern discovery that help women all around the world find out the truth without relying on "old fashioned" signs. The working principle is pretty simple and yet very accurate - so enjoy the benefits!
