In the search for anti-aging solutions and anti wrinkle creams, some home remedies have been suggested as miracle cures for a fraction of the price of the more expensive items available today. There are many ways to approach the skin aging and wrinkling process that starts naturally as part of aging. It can also be exacerbated by other things, like overexposure to the sun, many people are trying various products with good outcomes.
Because eye puffiness can expand skin around the eye area, and then it becomes stretched over a period of time, it can cause wrinkles when it constricts. For years, models have been said to use Preparation H in the eye area for puffiness, although it is not recommended by the drug's maker, Wyeth as they caution to not get any near the eye or mouth area. The principle behind this usage is the shrinking of a swollen area when used as directed, and so it is based on the premise that keeping eye puffiness to a minimum will keep the skin from stretching, and that new "un-stretched" cells eventually appear and have a more youthful appearance.
Despite the maker's reluctance to promote this type of use, there are many people who swear by its use to reduce puffiness around the eyes and the damage that results from such swelling. Just how it works is not rocket science, but does require a little reading to fully understand. The original formula of Preparation H dates back to the 1930's and contained a substance called Biodyne, also called LYCD (live yeast culture development) it also included shark liver oil, a substance with powerful antioxidant qualities and used to treat forms of cancer because it slows down the turn over of cells. These ingredients are no longer used, but people still say the cream works well as an anti-aging, anti-wrinkle treatment, so attention has been directed to its other ingredients such as mineral oil, petrolatum, corn oil, lanolin and thyme oil.
In previous times, olive oil was said to be a home remedy that produced wrinkle reduction and it has been found that shark liver oil can now be made synthetically from olives, rice and wheat germ, as additives in anti-aging creams and anti-wrinkle creams. You can still buy the original formula Preparation H containing Biodyne with LYCD and shark oil from Canada, and many people do, as it is still cheaper than some treatments that claim to contain these ingredients.
Cocoa Butter products also have been touted as good skin rejuvenators, and this is found in many anti-aging cream formulas, as well as many sun exposure products. In summary, it would appear the benefits might come from the intense oil content of the products and emollient properties. There are some anti-aging creams and anti-wrinkle creams sold on the Internet, that claim to contain LYCD's or shark liver oil, but not like the original Prep H formulation. Preparation H in its present form has a blood vessel constrictor, which is what minimizes the swelling effect. It is not recommended that it be used in the eye area over a pro-longed period of time.
