What Is Melanotan II?

Melanotan, as the name sounds, is used for skin tanning. The drug is an effective treatment against skin cancer and rosacea and is also effective in increasing libido. Melanotan works as a stimulator in the body. It stimulates the naturally occurring alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone, which results to Melanogenesis, a process where skin tanning cells (melanocytes) produce melanin, a hormone that is effective alternative to tanning by UV exposure.
Melanotan comes as Melanotan 1 and Melanotan II. The drug's molecular formula is C50-H69-N15-09. Melanotan 1 and Melanotan II are analogs of the peptide hormone alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone (a-MSH), which helps to induce skin tanning. Melanotan II has the additional effect of increasing libido.
Due to unavailability of complete information on the effects of Melanotan, the drug is currently being tested by the Australian company Clinuvel Pharmaceuticals and at the University of Arizona which is being headed by Dr. victor Hurby. According to the researchers, Melanotan has much more potential of curing simple diseases. The drug is expected to be used in the future to combat major health problems like ? Skin cancer. Additionally it was found that the drug is effective even to increase the libido and sexual function.
Melanotan 1 and Melanotan II are injectable drugs. It is prescribed to use 1ml the first day and then 0.5 ml for the rest of the week. It is advised not to take more doses of Melanotan 1 or Melanotan II, as they can cause a sunburn feeling and can cause severe rashes on your face. The drug produces some prosexual effects also, which could help to increase erections. Melanotan also has side effects. Some of the common side effects include Nausea and yawning.
It is important to note here that the product under research and is banned by the FDA. According to the U.S. FDA, the product is yet to be classified as a drug under the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. There is no evidence that the product is safe and is effective for labeled use. The drug could cause the users serious side effects and is an unapproved product. So the FDA has advised consumers to stop using Melanotan II.
