James Ray has always lived a religious life. He was born the son of a Protestant preacher. His father taught him traditional Christian beliefs, but also encouraged him to have an open mind to the beliefs of other cultures. James wasn't a typical boy. He preferred books to footballs. His favorites were about the religions of other people.

James enjoyed philosophy, Buddhism, and even quantum physics. In high school, he wanted to understand how the universe works. Even today as a spiritual teacher, he encourages his students to dive deeply into their chosen subject matter rather than dabbling as a seeker would do.

James Ray didn't begin his career as a spiritual teacher. For quite some time, he had a successful position as one of the top sales managers for AT&T. He was in charge of AT&T's School of Business, and as such, he was in charge of training. He trained people how to think differently, feel differently, and act differently.

In 1992, James Ray left his job AT&T to start a corporate consulting and training business. James took his knowledge of sales and training to individuals within corporations, because he believed that changing the way people think could change the overall bottom line of a company.

Later on, James followed his true passion in becoming a spiritual teacher. He started the Harmonic Wealth program as a way to teach people that wealth isn't just about having money. True wealth is the result of spiritual fulfillment and life balance. Even people who are rich beyond our wildest dreams can't be truly happy if they feel financially insecure. James believes life must be balanced in five areas to become wealthy.

The five key areas, or pillars, of life that have to be balanced for fulfillment are financial, relational, mental, physical, and spiritual. To truly set your life on fire, you have to find what you're passionate about and then incorporate it into the five pillars.

Each of the five pillars depends on the stability of the others, so balance, James believes, is essential. You can't think about how much you love your spouse if you're in the middle of an argument about money, and you can't give a presentation at work if you have a sore throat. Harmonic Wealth means you can't be happy with money alone. You need all areas of your life to be in tip-top shape.

James Ray has made appearances on the Oprah Winfrey show and Larry King Live. He was also in the movie "The Secret," which is in many ways similar to his Harmonic Wealth program. Balance is required in Harmonic wealth, and you have to go "three for three" with The Secret through focus of your thoughts, feelings, and actions. Find a successful balance, and find a successful life!
