Wedding Gown Cleaning Preservation
Paul Escobedo
Why should you want to clean and preserve you wedding dress? First of all, much time and thought went into selecting that perfect wedding dress. There may be a hope that your younger sister or even your daughter will want to wear your wedding gown someday. You may wish to hold on to your wedding dress for sentimental reasons. No matter what the reason, you will want to go with wedding gown preservation so that you will have a treasured keepsake that will last for many years.
After the wedding is over, many wedding gowns end up in a plastic garment bag with the best of intentions of wedding gown preservation. Sometimes procrastination can turn into weeks and even years. This can pose some serious risks to your wedding dress:
? Oxidation of stains ? Your wedding gown may have stains from make-up and food or the hemline may have been soiled. The wedding gown may appear clean, but don't let this fool you. Spills from clear soda or alcoholic beverages may dry clear. However, they will oxidize with time, turn the wedding dress brown, and become much harder to remove later on. Perspiration from your body may cause the lining of the wedding dress to turn brittle as time goes on. Your wedding gown has to be cleaned in order to preserve it in the best possible condition.
? Plastic fumes ? Gowns that are sealed up in plastic bags are exposed to a very harmful environment: plastic fumes. You will find that you dress will turn yellow due to the chemical fumes of the plastic.
Wedding dress preservation should be done as soon as possible. This will ensure that you gown will remain in very good condition. Your wedding gown should be cleaned and preserved within days of your wedding. This will increase the life of your dress so that someday your child may wear it.
