Don't send an e-mail. E-mail is impersonal and a tacky way to say thank you. Instead, write something nice on your personal stationary. It shows that you took the time to craft a letter, (a lost art these days) because of what they did for you meant that much.

You may not know what they want, or what their interests are, but by giving a gift card for a large department store, you are ensuring they are able to pick out exactly what they are looking for. Gift certificates or cards are an excellent way to say a quick thank you and to make sure the recipient is happy with what they get.

There is no need for a large bouquet of flowers to say thank you, although it is nice. A single flower says as much in its simplicity and can be more beautiful than wall-to-wall roses. Picking a flower from your own garden adds more emotional attachment to the gift.

Who doesn't love cookies? Who doesn't love home baked cookies meant especially for them. Exactly, you can't go wrong with this one, and as long as you are a good cook, the recipient will be more than happy to dig into the cookies. They might even share one with you, it is the gift that keeps on giving.
These gifts are very easy to get and make. You do not have to go all out and over the top to say thank you to someone. There is elegance in simplicity and beauty in the small things of life.
The main point is that you say thank you and it is the thought that counts. Nothing is worse for someone than a good deed that never gets a quick thanks from the person you helped.
