Cell phone has become one of the biggest innovations in communication technology. Today we have millions of cell phone users around the world and cell phone companies are making huge profits by selling cell phones. Cell phones have very complex internal electronic circuits inside them and that is why they should be handled with a lot of care. One of the major causes of cell phone damage is water damage. During the summer season complaints of water damage is very common. The reason is very simple because many people go to beaches and swimming pools with their cell phones. Some people carelessly bring their cell phones in contact with water and that is how water damage occurs.
Water damage is of two types; one is internal water damage and the other is external water damage. Internal water damage occurs when water gets into the electronic circuitry of the cell phone and this problem is pretty serious if not dealt properly. Sea water contains a lot of minerals and salts which are of corrosive nature and when sea water gets inside your cell phone it starts corroding the internal circuitry of the cell phone. Chlorine content is very high in pool water and chlorine is very corrosive in nature. Pool water is also very harmful for your cell phone because the chlorine starts reacting with the metals present inside the cell phone. Now if this problem remains untreated for a long time then it can cause permanent damage to your mobile phone.
Generally people do all sorts of things when water gets into their cell phones. Some connect it to the charger and some even put their cell phones inside a microwave. They think that the heat will vaporize the water inside but in reality this does not happen at all. If you put your cell phone inside a microwave then the radiation and heat will melt the internal circuitry present inside your cell phone. So be careful when your cell phone is water damaged; take the mobile phone for repairing.
Improper handling of cell phones can cause serious accidents too. If you put your cell phone inside the microwave then it can explode and will cause more damage than just water damage.
Whenever you face this kind of a problem then the first thing you should do is to remove the battery of your cell phone. With a dry cloth, try to wipe out the water from the battery contact point. This will prevent chances of future short circuiting and will keep your cell phone in a repairable condition. Then take your mobile phone to an authorized repairing center where the specialist will analyze the extent of the damage and repair it accordingly. You will have to pay for it if this is not included in the warranty.
To prevent water damage in cell phones try to use a water proof cover. This will prevent water from getting inside your cell phone and be careful the next time you visit a beach along with your cell phone.
