Have you ever heard the saying your word is your bond? It refers to the fact that what you say can be trusted. Here is a question for you. Do you think Barry Bond s words are bondable? Do you feel every thing he is saying in the media regarding his problems arising from the accusations of steroid use are honest and above board? I cannot answer that because I am not close enough to the situation to really know what went on, or what goes on right now, and what the future may hold for this guy. But I can say you can include me in the group that is extremely sceptical of anything he says. Here is a guy that regularly disses the press, missing press conferences completely or keeping them too short to be meaningful. And whenever he does comment on anything, it leaves you wondering about where the truth lies within the gabble.

Bonds attorney has been quoted as saying that his client is guilty of nothing more than being famous. The way this Bonds soap opera has been going, you could paraphrase that comment and make it read, Bonds is guilty of nothing more than being infamous. If it isn t the ongoing, did he or didn t he use the magic juice to enhance performance, it is now, did he pay taxes on his multi-mega dollar sales of personal sports memorabilia?

Check out his web site and have a look at the stuff that is for sale. I have no idea how much is selling, but the site is very professionally set up, and if the revenues that are being made are not being reported, Bonds has to be the most naive sports figure ever, or the most dishonest. How could you set up a memorabilia site as well done as this and not have a follow up accounting system? Maybe the supposed illegalities are to be found in other of his activities such as mobile autograph signings?

There is no doubt that Bonds will always be recognized as a superior baseball talent. His association with Greg Anderson and Victor Conte and subsequent obvious bulk up is where his career stats start to become tainted.

Here is a question for you. In view of this ballplayer s cloudy image at the present time, should you, if you have a chance, (and the money) purchase any Bond memorabilia? If it were up to me, given the chance, I would buy Bond material as long as it comes with an ironclad guarantee of authenticity. At some point in time they may end up asterisking his records, but this should not take away from the fact that he is setting records and likely will continue to be a force as a baseball star. It may very well be that he is not exactly Mr. Clean, but I still feel his memorabilia has to be considered collectable. Maybe I am showing some major hypocrisy saying this in view of my earlier comments, but as I look at his site again it will not matter, there is no way I can afford any of that stuff!
