The first thing you probably wonder when you hear about Squidoo is "what does the name mean?" Well, the idea behind Squidoo is to imagine the worlds oceans as representing the content of the world wide web, and you are a giant Squid with a giant eyball who dives deep into the content bringing new knowledge to the surface. Squidoo strives to be rich in fresh internet content by giving free web pages (or Lenses as they call them) to everyone. Anyone can start a free Squidoo lens about almost any topic that they know about.

And did you knowyou can even make money from your lens? Without you spending a dime? Yep. The lens will have Google adsense ads at the top of the page and you get 50% of the royalties! So when people discover your lens that you created about widgets, the Adsense ads will be related to your widgets automatically! The ads are small and do not get in the way.

You are encouraged to create as many lenses as you wish. The more lenses you create, the more web hits and the more you end up getting paid. But many people just use these lenses to promote other business programs and some people just like to use their lens like a blog. You can use a Squidoo lens for many different things limited only to your imagination.

Squidoo lenses use a tagging system that builds links within the Squidoo community that enhance the traffic of all Squidoo members. Squidoo has state of the art built in lens statistics so you can monitor your traffic and what keywords they used to find your site.

I created a lens about "paid to click sites" that lists all the that I joined for free. Now I receive a lot of traffic to that website and I make more money from my ptc sites. Plus I make money from the Adsense ads.

I also created some other lenses that you can read if you want. They are mostly about making money on the web and how to advertise online. You might create a lens about cooking recipies or whatever subject you may know about. You will have a lot of fun and before you know it there will be lots of people visiting your lens.
