Windows Home And Office
James Brown
Dressing up windows in your home and office can often pose several setbacks. Often it would involve choosing which material to use, what color and style to utilize, how all these things may cost and so on. The possibilities for this decoration project are often boundless and awe-inspiring. The secret however, is to keep in mind some important points and from there you can let the artist in you provide the much needed pizzazz and style your windows need.
Window treatments add personality to your homes and workplaces and it is often a very important aspect in decorating a room. They make a big difference in the overall appearance of the room. However, it should always complement the room's style and architectural design. Before you grab your bag and go out hunting for sizes and options, it would always be helpful if you already have a clear idea on how your ideal room would look like. You can scan on some home decorating magazines or books for options. You can also get samples of the fabric for the blinds and swatches to have a clear view on the look you want to achieve.
Here are some options for your window treatments:
Blinds
Blinds are popularly used because they provide excellent privacy especially at home during the night. It is also helpful because it blocks away the harmful UV rays of the sun from entering the room. They come in a wide range of colors and the best choice is one which matches your window trim. Neutral colors such as beige and cream is often preferred. You could also choose between the traditional wooden-slat blinds which gives the room a more natural feel or the less expensive metal or plastic blinds which gives it a crisp, more contemporary look. Whatever color or whatever type you choose, always remember to be safe. Excess chord hanging carelessly provides a choking hazard so it is necessary to wrap that excess chord tightly.
Shades
Shades could either be simple roller shades or cellular shades. Roller shades are often cheaper than cellular shades. They can be decorated with painted designs or iron-on fabric. Cellular shades block almost a hundred percent of light from entering the room. They can be also mobilized using a remote control so you can change the "mood" of your room without having to make use of the pulley mechanism found in roller shades.
Curtains
This option is often the least practical of the window treatments though it creates a more elegant look for the room. It is often harder to clean the curtains or draperies as compared to blinds or shades. It tends to gather more dust and members of the household who suffer certain allergic reactions to dust would somehow find it annoying. Remember to use fabrics that are not too heavy or too opaque. Use sheer fabrics to create a lighter ambiance in the room. However, using fabrics that are too light allow a significant amount of the sun's rays to enter creating unnecessary heat into the room.
