Wolff System Tanning Beds
Jim Grayson
Getting a suntan in the summer is preferred by light skinned people who would like to see their skin glow in a bronze look. Tanning seems to enhance people's personalities and makes them look and feel more confident. However many people have resorted to tanning indoors rather than tanning outdoors in the comforts of their home or tanning salons. They are tanning on UV beds indoors as too much exposure to the sun's rays can harm the skin in more ways then one.
The use of UV beds indoors helps the skin get exposed to UV rays that simulate the melanin production in the skin. However, the skin should not be exposed to UV rays for a long time as it can prove to damage the skin instead of tanning it. Tanning of the skin through UV beds makes it glow and gives a bronze look.
Tanning beds have special fluorescent lights on the top and the bottom of the bed. It is these lights that emit UV rays in varying intensities according to your requirements. You should always tan on a high pressure bed. This is because conventional beds may leave pressure marks on your skin due to tanning. High pressure beds do not leave pressure marks on your skin as you are flipping over. Again, never expose yourself too long on any kind of bed. Too much exposure to UV beds can damage the skin permanently.
High pressure beds use special types of quartz lamps that vary in length and tan the skin from above. The tanner flips automatically after a while to tan the rest of the body. In case of high pressure beds, the gases inside the quartz lamp are maintained at a little above atmospheric pressure while the gases in the tanning tubes of conventional beds are maintained at a little below atmospheric pressure. With high pressure beds, the tan also goes deeper into the skin giving the skin a deeper and darker tan.
Cost is a factor of tanning beds. High pressure tanning beds cost between $10,000 and $40,000 while conventional tanning beds cost between $1,500 and $6,000. What you can do is compare the costs of buying a tanning bed against going to a club. Even club fees are pretty expensive. You can determine what the better option for you may be.
In conclusion, we see how tanning beds (we prefer the high pressure versions) give you tanning within the comforts of your home or in the salon.. You don't have to travel to the beach for a tan and you can tan anytime day or night. The beds are extremely comfortable to lie on and an alarm will notify you when to flip on the other side.
Always take precautions when tanning indoors or out. It is advisable to protect your eyes by wearing goggles so as not to expose them to the ultraviolet radiation. The medical community and dermatologist all over the world are counseling their patients in regards to the risks of cancer getting tans. The chances of contacting skin cancer is highly increased if the skin is exposed to UV rays for a long period of time.
The use of tanning devices like tanning beds continue to grow in the western countries. Many people resort to indoor or sunless tanning in their home or salons. The tanning industry is said to earn billions of dollars every single year.
