Not every program is for every user, of course. But the point of PortableApps Suite is that it collects pretty well the best open-source and free software in one place, and makes it super-easy for you to put it to instant use - on your desktop, your laptop or that thumb drive you wear around your neck and carry wherever you might run into a business centre or Internet cafe.
Pretty well all the software here has been reviewed (favourably) here or elsewhere in Post Database.
None of it is very specialised, either. It does computer stuff that we all do, every week if not every day - prevent viruses, surf the web, unpack .Zips, write letters, do email, play music and videos.
And of course - Microsoft, please note - no software suite can be complete without a Sudoku program that makes and helps to solve games.
By the time you read this, the PortableApps Suite should run under all Windows systems, but the version I reviewed had a bug that only allowed it on Windows XP.
Installed on your computer, preferably on a thumb drive, the menu and all programs take up less than 512MB of space. There are two other editions, stripped down, for smaller thumb drives. It also is extremely easy to add portable applications to your menu.
