If you try holding your breath and deprive yourself of certain foods, or worse yet, try eating tiny amounts of food, sooner or later you're going to need a reprieve. And boy, watch out, no food in the 50 mile radius will be safe in that "reprieve" moment, unless of course it's a piece of lettuce.
You've tried every diet under the sun, and have subsequently lost and gained weight more times than you'd care to remember. Perhaps you've even been unfortunate enough to try diet pills, which you probably know, fall into two unhealthy categories: laxatives and various forms of speed (substances that increase your metabolism). So, none of that is working for you.
The diet "Yo-Yo" is emotionally painful, and it also leaves you with the uneasy feeling that you can never trust your weight and food. Plus, you still end up spending a lot of your time being overweight.
The pills are another nightmare. You know they're not healthy for you, but you feel the alternative is to face your desperation and to be overweight, and that may be too much for you to bear, so you opt for the pills.
So now what?
What if the reason why you haven't succeeded in your efforts to lose weight has nothing to do with your "will power", "your food choices", "your metabolism" or anything else you've been told in the past? What if all of that was ultimately irrelevant?
Well it is...

Now there are a variety of methods that will assist you in uncovering what your real issues are, so you can dismantle these hidden obstacles once and for all.
One revealing technique is to imagine what your life would be like if you were in the kind of shape you want to be in, and actually write down how that would be. Then explore how you would feel about your "new life" - what would be the pros and cons of your life as this person who's in great shape.
What often happens is that you realize you have some anxiety or fears about the way your new life would be, and that in fact, on some level, you perhaps prefer the familiar battle with weight loss, because it's seems less threatening.
Armed with this new awareness, you'll now be able to deal with the real issues, instead of using the weight loss challenge as a smoke screen. The result is that you're finally able to lose the weight you've always been struggling with.
In addition to the above technique, there are various groups and counselors that approach weight loss from this perspective. They don't put all the focus on diets and exercise plans, though they usually address that too. Instead they assist you in finding the true cause of your weight issues, so that you can effectuate permanent change.
