Now it’s just as hungry as all the others, but all it wants to eat is information, that is its sole diet, its only food and the only reason it’s out there prowling Cyberspace. Now the fact that the Informavore only eats information does not make it any less “picky” than the others, in fact it is perhaps the trickiest of all, as it has a very short attention span and will not, like a tiger wade through heaps of grass to get at its prey.
In short if it looks like too much trouble the Informavore will simply click their mouse and be off to somewhere else, in the hope that they will fare better there.
How The Informavore Thinks
Now the last part of that paragraph is perhaps the most important, as it tells of the way the Informavore thinks, and that way lies the secret to keeping the beast on your website.
All you have to do is to provide the Informavore with easily accessible food (data) and they will stay and graze on your site.
Now accessibility in this case does not mean you have to put everything on the one page (that would truly be a disaster, too much “grass” to wade through) but it does mean that as you lead the Informavore through your site, that the “scent” of the prey must keep getting stronger.
Simply put make sure that the trail is there for them to see and that it looks easy to follow and likely to end up on a useful page and the Informavore will love you and your site.
