It seems as if many golfer's don't care to take the time to get the proper exercise that they need.
Why do I say this? By doing a study of amatuer golfer's over the past several months.
Golf has become much more popular with the younger generation the past two decades. You now
see individuals that are young and old on the golf course these days. Getting "away from it all" for
some is heading to the golf course.
Golf, like any sport, is a physical activity so you must stretch well before playing It's important that
you workout regularly to stay in "golf playing shape". However, unlike many "gym rats" that like to
hang out at the local fitness centers and get buffed up by lifting weights, your goal is different and
there are some exercises that can actually do you more harm than good. Read more.
Baby Steps To Begin With
You have to stretch your muscles well before you begin exercising. This is important in order to prevent
injury and shorten your recovery time.
When stretching you should begin as though your were about to swing a golf club follow through your
swing stretch until it's slighly uncomfortable for you and then hold it for a few seconds without bouncing.
Bouncing can cause injury. Do two repetitions of each stretch and then reverse direction in order to achieve
a full body benefit.
I recommend that you stretch at least ten to fifteen minutes before beginning and after finishing your workout.
This will help to prevent soreness and muscle cramping. Don't overdo it! There's nothing more discouraging
than hurting yourself when starting a workout routine. Keep at a steady pace that you're comfortable with.
Remember that your body is different than others and you need to build your workouts at your own pace.
Remember that the competition is at the golf course, not in the gym.
You might consider hiring a golf fitness trainer, at least temporarily, in order to get you started on a regular
workout schedule. Your trainer will be able to give you specific exercises to do and will also help you to
map out different workout routines mixing up the types of exercises you're doing is important to prevent
boredom After all, wouldn't you enjoy doing different stuff instead of the same thing over and over? A good
