So What If You Have An Organised Kitchen? ? Part 1
Mei Galang
Add to this the fact that it is where we all gather to enjoy meals with friends and family. As a result, the kitchen can become one of the most difficult rooms to organize and keep spotlessly tidy and clean.
Want a really nice and organised kitchen? Here are some steps you can do towards a kitchen you won't lose your way in.
1. Things in their proper places. Two golden rules to follow here is that Everything must have their proper place in your kitchen, and that Everything must be returned to their proper places after use. It's pretty simple and no-nonsense, and yet too many of us think that a pair kitchen scissors not inside its proper drawer isn't a big deal. But you'll need those scissors and that oregano spice one day, and you'll wish you didn't switch their places.
If we keep on ignoring misplacing things, they can steadily accumulate that by the time we notice we have one messy kitchen, it's going to take some real hard work to set things aright again. Also, things in their proper places help keep accidents at a minimum, i.e. Knives are out of reach of children.
2. Work out a schedule in cleaning your kitchen. And stick to it. Obviously, daily tasks can include those that need to be always done and can't be put off, like sweeping the floor or wiping the countertop. But for those tedious ones that involve really getting down on your hands and knees, so they are best scheduled weekly. Stock up on really good cleaning materials like scrubbing pads and brushes, mops, gloves, environment-friendly detergent etc. just to pep yourself up for the laborious tasks.
3. Clean your countertops and remove any item or appliance you do not use at least once a week. Keep cookbooks to a minimum and store away the ones you don't use on a regular basis. Store pots and pans in a cupboard close to the stove for easy access. Place baking sheets, cake pans, pizza pans, etc. in a cupboard beneath or next to the oven. You can use a rack to help arrange baking sheets by size and those used most often. Consider suspending pots and pans on a wall or from a ceiling mounted rack to maximize cabinet and storage space. This can look really great, particularly if you have some interesting pots that you want to display.
4. Store rubbish bags near bins for easy changing. You could help out the environment here by separating your kitchen wastes, one for biodegradeable, and the other for non-biodegradeable.
