10 Must See Places
Gaurav Rathor
There are many beautiful places to visit in (near Jaipur). It is not an easy task to name the ?Top Ten?, but we consider these to be the top ten places to see in.
1.The Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary is number one, with its wealth of indigenous Indian flora and fauna. The tiger reserve is a delight for wildlife lovers from all over the world. You would be remiss not to visit The Sariska Palace Hotel - this grand heritage hotel was originally built by the Maharaj of Alwar as a royal hunting lodge.
2.Alwar Fort A massive fort with ramparts that stretch 1.6km from east to west and 5km from north to south. The Alwar fort was built prior to the rise of the Mughal Empire. Its towers and gates are beautiful and tell history.
3. Jai Samand Lake was formed by the construction of a dam to harvest the flood waters of the river Ruparel. It was completed in 1920, and features lush green lawns, and beautifully laid out gardens.
4.Siliserh; Another lake approximately 13 km from the city of Alwar, Siliserh was built in 1845, and is set picturesquely amongst the forested slopes of the Aravalli range.
5.Pandupol is a natural arch created by the action of water against limestone. It is one of the most frequently visited attractions in Sariska. A waterfall is created in the rainy seasons which is a visual delight.
6.City Palace built in the 18th century by Maharaj Vinay Singh is one of the most attractive places to visit in all of Rajastan..
7.Moosi Rani Chhatri; A cenotaph built in the memory of Moosi Bai, Queen of Maharaj Bakhwatar Singh.
8.Hope Circus: A monument built in honour of the daughter of Lord Linlithgow during his visit to Alwar in 1939 ? 40, the then Viceroy of India.
9.Purjan Vihar: Picturesque gardens laid out in 1868 during the reign of Maharaj Shiv Dan Singh.
