There a number of different types of skin that people can have. Normal skin is neither dry nor oily, nor is it sensitive. Dry skin needs to be moisturized to retain in natural quality.

Oily or greasy skin will need to be cared for with products that will reduce the oils on skin without harming the face. Combination skin is usually a combination of oily and dry skin. Finally, there is the sensitive skin type; it will require its own special care.

Many manufacturers of skin care products make claims that are either false or only minimally true. There are good ingredients for skin products that will restore and bring back skin health. Unscrupulous manufacturers may put just trace amounts in their product so they can be listed on the label. As an informed consumer, you should look not only for beneficial ingredients but the concentration of the ingredients as well.

Claims that are also made by manufacturers include the product will reduce lines and/or wrinkles. You will have younger, smoother looking skin. Some claim to even out your skin tone. Many people have slight variations in skin colors that can be more evened out with make up and other skin care products.

Armed with this information, you might be thinking - are all skin products the same? As long as I pay attention to my skin, I'll be fine. Sorry but this is not the case. There are four general reasons why you should use only natural products.

1) The first reason is that some products may actually be harmful to your skin.

2) Some ingredients may cause cancer, skin irritations, and may actually cause or worsen acne flare-ups. Some of these ingredients are parabens, alcohols, and mineral oil.

3) For the animal lover, natural products are cruelty free. No animals are used to test the products.

4) Natural products are free from synthetic ingredients, fillers, and preservatives.

Natural skin care products are terrific for the skin. They have nothing artificial, no fillers, preservatives or fragrances. If you want to smell nice, use cologne or perfume. Fragrances in skin care products can cause irritations and allergic reactions.

Its better to just use a dab of your favourite fragrance then have it in your skincare products, especially for long term skin health.
