It is not a well known fact that you can get a congratulatory letter from the President of the United States. He or she obviously won't appreciate it growing up, but when he or she reaches adulthood to know enough what is going on in the world, I'm sure it will be among his valuable possessions.
Now, before you request for one, it should be noted that the baby must have been born within the past twelve months and that you should ask for the letter only after the baby's birth. As much as it would be more convenient for you to request the letter in advance and in time for when the baby is born, this cannot be so. It takes a minimum of six weeks for it to be processed and another week or so for it to be sent to you depending on what state you are in.
Here is the information you want to include in your request for a Congratulatory Presidential Letter as your unique baby gift:
- The full name and home address of the newborn baby.
- Form of address (Mr., Ms., Mrs., Dr., Miss, etc.)
- Exact date of the occasion or request (month, day, year)
- Your (the requestor's) name and daytime phone number and other contact information
- The Baby's Birth date (Including the full names and address of baby and parents)

For some people, it might seem tacky to do this online. You probably don't want to give your request in bulletpoints either. Below is a template you could use just in case you are lost for words when writing to the President:

It would be a great honor for us to receive acknowledgment from the White House in recognition of the birth of the newest member of the Smith Family. Joe A. Smith was born on Monday, July 21, 2008.
This request is unknown to Joe's parents. I intend to include the Presidential Congratulations as a gift package for them Joe's address is: John & June Smith // 123 Whatever Street / Anytown, USA 01234
Since I want to surprise the couple, please send congratulations to me at: 456 Whatever Street / Anytown, USA 01234 so I may be able to deliver the letter to them.
