Another wonderful reef, and the second largest in the world, is off the eastern coast of Mexico. It's in the warm waters of the Caribbean. You will see tropical fish, a living coral reef and possibly sea turtles. Sadly, the reef has been damaged by recent hurricanes. This area is a tourist's paradise and you can find a number of adventure tours to take you to the best scuba locations.

The Mayan Riviera, as it's known, has resorts that are all-inclusive. If you stay in one of them, you will learn to dive in the pool, be certified, and be whisked off to fabulous scuba diving locales by a professional guide. To avoid being scammed by someone not really qualified, choose a resort with a solid reputation.

These aren't the only places to experience fantastic scuba diving. Some divers prefer diving for shipwrecks than they do coral reefs. Florida and off the coast of Spain are two of the best regions for this activity.

Please remember not to touch a coral reef if you dive near one. It is a living organism that is extremely sensitive. Even a soft touch can kill it. When that happens it takes years to reproduce itself, so please be very careful.
