In five of the last eight races, Edwards has finished first or second including all three of his 2006 Busch victories. But the Roush Racing driver remained a distant second in the season standings, 308 points behind runaway series leader Harvick.
Edwards enlisted in the 100-lap Whelen Modified race after Saturday morning's qualifying session but broke his Ford Mustang. But, Edwards was hoping for a successful afternoon in the 200-lap Busch event.
Counterpart Bowyer had a stronger car Chevrolet Monte Carlo and he owned a comfortable lead over Edwards with 51 laps remaining. As he opted for his final green-flag pit stop on lap 150, Aaron Fike spun out to prompt a caution period.
Edwards' victory was the 18th in a Nextel Cup Series regular in 20 Busch races this season. The top three finishers will also race in Sunday's Lenox Industrial Tools 300 Cup event.
