Town Of Lake Park
Tcn
"On Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada, there is a small community of three thousand people. This area, Lake Cowichan, is a growing neighbourhood with only 3,000 residents on Lake Cowichan and another 3,500 residents around the lake. The town, established in 1944, is a great place for water lovers. When the town was first built, it was built around Cowichan River, leaving this beautiful body of water to run right through the middle of town. Cowichan Lake is also found here and this is one of Vancouver Island’s largest bodies of fresh water.
Taking a houseboat down Cowichan Lake is the perfect way to spend a day or a week! The houseboats are located just at the entry of the lake and once aboard, you can not only enjoy the amazing views of the water and the mountains also enjoy seeing the deer frolic in the forest and bald eagles soar overhead. It is only here in the “Warm Land" that you can spend such a beautiful day fly and sport fishing right from your dock!
Lake Cowichan also has some of the best camping sites in British Columbia. Here you can enjoy nature from more solid ground and spend some time hiking and cooking over an open flame! Cowichan River Footpath, Cowichan River National Park, and Gordon Bay Provincial Park are just a few of the best hiking trails in this area. The Trans Canada Trail stretches from the center of town in Lake Cowichan and travels down through Duncan. Experienced hikers and novices alike will love these trails, as there are different choices for every level of hiker!
Also make sure that you visit the Cowichan Lake Forest Research Station. This forest is a working forest and here you will find trees that have been shipped from all parts of the world so that they may be studied. It’s due to this forest that the area is known so well for the great work it’s accomplished in forest genetics and tree physiology.
If you want to spend some time indoors doing some shopping or experiencing one of Lake Cowichan’s fine restaurants, you’ll want to head into the village. Here you can find the Kaatza Station Museum. This small community museum has won awards for its displays and presentations. Here you can find history and exquisite artifacts taken write from the town of Lake Cowichan. Another unique element of the Kaatza Station Museum is that the old E&N Railway Station serves as the setting for all of the wonderful displays.
Once you have visited the town of the Lake Cowichan, you may fall in love with it so much that you want to make it your home! This actually isn’t uncommon for many of the visitors the town sees year after year. Lake Cowichan has plenty of real estate, whether you are searching for a cozy cottage or a condo unit with a modern design. There’s something for every lifestyle and every budget in Lake Cowichan!
