Tourist Attractions In Madagascar
Gary Marshall
Apart from the very obvious attractions of Mallorca (Majorca) Island of wonderful weather, beautiful beaches and an abundance of reasonably priced accommodation, there are many other things to see and do, some built specifically for tourism, some ancient and some natural. Below I will list a few of the more popular tourist attractions on Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain to help make your stay there more interesting and enjoyable.
The Western Water Park in Calvia near the fabulous resort of Magaluf is a strange mixture of a western cowboy shows and aqua or water park. There are a great selection of flumes, slides and wild rivers for thrill seeking adults and more sedate, themed areas for the younger visitors. Then when you are bored with that you can go and see a show featuring acrobatics and cowboys! Opens at ten in the morning from the beginning of May to the end of October (closing times vary).
Not far away in Costa d'en Blanes beach Is Marineland which, as the name suggests, is a tourist park centred on aquariums (with a selection of fish, sharks and even penguins). There are plenty of shows to keep the whole family amused, the most popular of which are the dolphin and sea lion displays. For the children there is a small water park to help them cool off, as well. This attraction is open from the beginning of February through to the end of November.
The Auto Safari Zoo in Sa Coma is the only true zoo on Mallorca and has all the usual animals (lions, tigers, elephants, giraffes, hippos etc) plus a safari (either drive your own car or take a mini train) through the wilds of Mallorca! Repairing a hire car can be expensive so I would advise you to take the train. This is an open all year round attraction.
There are many beautiful buildings to explore around Mallorca, displaying magnificent architecture from past times, after all the Moors and Romans have been there as well. The historic centre of Palma should not be missed with its spectacular gothic Cathedral, Palace, churches and mansions.
Some of the natural wonders of Mallorca are its caves, the most famous of which is probably the "Cuevas del Drach" (The Caves of Drach) near Porto Cristo. These caverns are huge, over a mile and a half long and include a subterranean boating lake and classical music concerts are performed in them daily, would you believe. They are open all year with different opening times according to the season, so check before you go.
At peak times I would advise booking all attractions in Mallorca in advance, if that is possible, to avoid disappointment.
