Tourism Of Costa Rica
Allan Cliff
Costa Blanca is a tourist destination along with the other industries of fishing, construction (which is mainly focused on tourism) and agriculture. The beautiful Costa Blanca is a province of Alicante and has 200km of Mediterranean as its coastline. Costa Blanca has excellent weather and climate and the many picturesque beaches that stretch for miles along the coast is what attracts tourists.
Every place and destination in Costa Blanca is different and visiting the place will definitely keep you occupied and your enthusiasm level high. The Northern part of Costa Blanca is a must visit tourist destination and the holiday resort of Benidorm is practically thriving with tourists throughout the year. You can reach the area flying into Alicante or Valencia Airport. Although it is too far south to reach from car hire from Barcelona Airport.
Some tourist attractions
Altea This town is on the large bay with sandy beaches and modern marina. You can also stroll into the old town and admire its architecture as well as its charm. Walk up the steep narrow streets that winds on the hillsides and walk into the architectural rich church which overlooks all the whitewashed buildings and bustling square.
Albir is a great family holiday resort and is between Benidorm and Altea. This could be an alternative to those who don't want to visit the busy beaches. The beach at Albir has received the prestigious European Blue Ribbon award annually since 2001. The beaches are quite and not very crowded. Albir also houses the Albir Golf course which is the gem of Albir, tourists and locals can be caught playing, football, cricket as well as Golf.
Elche is the third largest city and one of the most visited as well. You will notice the largest plantations of palms in Europe, showcasing its excellent agricultural practice. An interesting two-part theatre production of a mystery play is held on the 14th and 15th of August and is performed in the beautiful Basilica of Saint Mary of Elche.
Calpe can be recognized by everyone with the huge rock that looks out of the sea. This volcanic rock is famous and known as Penon de Ifach and is 335 meters and is the largest in the Mediterranean resembling the rock of Gilbratar. Three beautiful beaches sweep around the coastline and ends at the rock. You can also hike up the boulder and on a clear day can also view Ibiza.
Javea is a land where citrus grows in abundance, making it a must visit during spring time. You can walk into the fresh water cave which has two caves (Cueva de Agua Dulce) that are accessible by divers.
Guadalest occupies the most stunning positions in Spain; the village is on the pinnacle of a granite mountain. There are plenty of museums where you learn about its crafts shops, history and you could buy a souvenir as well.
Villajoyosa is a charming and beautiful fishing village and is very famous for its chocolate. You can also visit the Museum of Chocolate and sample some.
Finestrat is a beautiful resort which is also close to some great golf courses, if you're looking for some golf time. Terra Mitica and Terra Natura are easily accessible from here.
These areas are best visited by car so when you fly in to the Costa Blanca, use Alicante car hire.
