Delhi is the most momentous capitals in the world, as it comprises of three monuments including Red Fort, Qutub Minar and Humayun's Tomb. These three historic monuments are declared as a part of World Heritage Sites. India Gate honors the soldiers of the Indian British Army, during World War 1. It comprises of the names of the soldiers inscribed along its structure. Old Fort, known as Purana Qila was a magnificent fort built by Sher Shah Suri, it has a lake at its base with boasting facilities. Jantar Mantar, an observatory was built by the King of Jaipur in 1724. It was presumed to be the greatest technological achievement of those times and has significance even today.
Humayun's Tomb is a predecessor of the highly acclaimed Taj Mahal and it is situated in the centre of a large square garden with high walls on three sides. Safdarjang's Tomb replicates the largest garden tomb in Delhi, which was built in 1753-53. Rashtrapati Bhawan, the President's official residence is expanded over 330 acres and was the official home of the Viceroy in the time of British Rule. For some particular period of the year, the Mughal Gardens located within that area are open for general public. Red fort was built by Shah Jahan and is known as Lal Quila, due to the red sandstone used in its construction. On the Independence Day, the Indian Prime Minister addresses the nation from here.
