Your bathroom may not need any major remodeling, it may just need a little punch to renew it or give it a fresh look. So what do you do?
First, give your bathroom a real objective looking over. Decide what looks like it needs a little pizzazz.
1. What is the condition of your vanity?
The vanity is often the first thing you or a visitor may focus attention on. Maybe replacing the vanity top is a solution. If your vanity top is worn and dated, maybe just replacing the vanity will make a big difference.
2. Is the cabinet supporting your vanity top past it's prime?
Often refinishing the cabinetry in your bathroom can make a big difference. If you have wood cabinetry, and it is showing signs of wear and looks dated, consider sanding it down and giving it a new finish topped off with a new set of knobs and pulls.
There are many colored stains available now, and getting away from the dark look of a wood finish could give your bathroom new life.
3. How do you feel about your bathroom flooring?
Certainly, if you do nothing but replace the bathroom floor, it will have a great impact. Since the floor is a large space relative to the size of the room, changing the bathroom flooring can sometimes do wonders.
4. Look at the paint on your walls.
This can be an easy and inexpensive solution to the bathroom blahs. Like the floor, the wall space is large in relation to the overall room size. A fresh coat of paint in a new color can add some real pizzazz, and the cost is relatively small for the amount of impact this offers.
Take the extra step of using primer. This will not only make your paint last longer, but it will give you a much smoother look. Select a good quality paint in enamel. If you don't favor a glossy look ask for it in eggshell which has less shine.
These are just a few suggestions on how you can spice up a bathroom area and give it a renewed look without a major bathroom remodel. Add in a couple of new decorative accessories and you will feel like you have a whole new space.
