Treatment For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
Nick Clipton
Depression and OCD (Obsessive compulsive disorder) have started affecting people from all walks of life. And it's not at all a good sign. If these two disorders are not treated early, it may result in serious damage to the individual. Depression is a mental disorder whereas OCD is an anxiety disorder. OCD (Obsessive compulsive disorder) is a dangerous anxiety disorder. It is not widely prevalent like depression. But it affects people of both the sexes equally. The cause behind OCD is unknown but it is a treatable disease and full recovery is possible.
OCD is caused by a fear, which causes anxiety, which causes OCD.
Compulsions and Obsessions are two types of symptoms involved in OCD.
OCD symptoms relating to Compulsions are:
1. Repeated washing of hands to such an extent that their hands turn raw.
2. They tend to repeatedly check the doors once locking them.
3. They pay constant visits to kitchen to check whether the stove is turned off.
4. They tend to confuse even simple things.
OCD symptoms relating to obsessions are:
1. People suffering from this problem fear shaking hands and they fear contamination by dirt.
2. Continuous feelings of guilt.
3. They develop a habit of pulling hairs resulting in baldness.
4. Asymmetrical things push them to extreme stress..
You can choose what you are going to focus on. So don't worry if you have OCD or not. Worrying is not productive. Your real thoughts should be, how can I channel this energy into doing a better job at my place of employment. Think in these terms remembering that you created your OCD in your mind and you can choose to apply that energy to anything that you want to. You want to change the focus of thoughts from OCD to doing a great job. Maybe get some medication at first from a doctor to help, but I think that you can do this without medication, it's just something that you are going to have to work really hard at until you get better at it.
Take action: This is what you can do right now to channel your OCD energy into work productivity. Your brain needs a release of that fear or a way to handle the fear that drives OCD, instead of performing rituals, tell yourself that doing your job will satisfy the the compulsion and it's not a ritual because it's your job so it's productive.
