Traffic. Bosses hanging over your head. Inflexible hours. Stress. Very little vacation. Should I go on? These are some of the reasons (but by no means all of them) that people get out of the rat race and into the comfort and peace of their own home office. I don't think there has ever been a better time for people to start a home business and start working towards the freedom they have all desired.
When the going gets tough in your home business, sometimes it is nice to reflect back on the reasons why you wanted to work at home in the first place. And, I'll tell you - these reasons look pretty darn good in retrospect.
" Be your own boss - That's right - there is something to be said about being the head honcho. You get to decide when you work, what you work on, and where your day is spent in the pursuit of your dreams. No longer are your efforts going to making someone else a bundle of money - you are making that bundle for yourself and your family.
" Be with the family - While you do need to get work done, the obvious advantage of working from home is that you do get the flexibility to be around for those moments in your children's lives. You can go to soccer games, watch school plays, participate in class with your kids, and you have more time for that special someone in your life, too. There are tremendous advantages to being at home, especially as far as family are concerned.
" The sky is the limit - At a normal job, you are often capped in how much you can be paid. That means that no matter how hard you work, you are probably still going to be making the same amount of money one, two or five years from now. You might get a one or two percent raise - but let's be realistic - that's nothing compared with an unlimited ceiling that is only capped by your desire to earn money.
" Freedom! - You are free from the binds and shackles of your restrictive workplace. Your creativity is opened up and you feel unbridled in how high you can reach!
No one can put a price on the joys of owning your own business and experiencing some of the liberation from a stifling office job. Of course, there is some risk, and you do need to do your homework when starting a home business. But, the potential can be unlimited - once you find something you can really put your heart into!
