Dr. Ignatius Piazza, founder and director of Front Sight, understands that many, if not most, attacks happen at night time or places of darkness. You hear more cases of women being attacked in a dark alley way than you hear about people being attacked on a bright and sunny Saturday afternoon in the park. What if you were walking to your car at two o'clock in the morning and you were approached by a man with a gun, threatening to shoot you? Your have had courses in self defense training, but only in the daytime, when light is ample. Now, your visibility is suffering because it is dark outside. What do you do? Training in good lighting helps you learn proper techniques for self defense, but if a situation ever presented itself where you would have to defend yourself in the dark it would be difficult to handle without adequate low light training because it would not be within your comfort zone. Front Sight offers a variety of night time / low lighting courses to get students into that comfort zone. The night courses run from 6:30 pm to 12:30 am so that students can practice in a wide range of lighting - from low light to almost complete darkness. There is a prerequisite of taking the proper course during the day - if you want to learn how to use a handgun at night, you must first know how to use it during the day. The course starts before sunset, so that the instructor has time to review techniques with the students and get everyone comfortable for the class. As the lighting becomes less available, students will learn low light techniques. The course proceeds by following the amount of light available, until students are competent working with little to no lighting at all.
