Why Am I Losing My Hair
Ron Mettler
An undeniable fact is that people lose their hair. It's embarrassing and for some, actually frightening. Who wants to go bald? It causes low self-esteem and can bring a man to tears. What about the women that lose their hair? Yes, it happens to women too. Because it's somewhat normal for a man to go bald, it is especially hard for a woman to except that she is losing her hair and can cause severe emotional problems that can actually lead to more hair loss.
What a lot of us don't know is that it is a normal and natural process. You see, hair follicles only grow for two to six years and then they go dormant or die. Eventually, the hair loses it's strength and when put under any type of stress such as combing, brushing or sometimes just running water in the shower, it will release the dead, unstable hair. Keep in mind that this is considered normal hair loss. Due to the brilliant makeup of our bodies and reproductive capabilities, the dead hair is replaced with a brand new hair follicle. In most cases, this process leaves us with full looking head of hair that we enjoy.
Unfortunately there are unnatural reasons for people losing their hair. In some cases, self-inflicted. Some of these include...
1. Excessive heat to hair, caused by blow drying
2. Over processing with hair dyes
3. Tightly braided hairstyles
4. Improper diet
5. Daily stresses
In other cases it is brought on by circumstances out of ones control such as certain types of illnesses...
1. Thyroid, kidney and liver disease, cancer and lupus
2. Prescription drugs given for blood thymes, acne, arthritis and heart disease
3. High Fever, serious infections, major surgery
4. Alopecia Areata
5. Anorexia and Bulimia
We strongly recommend that you see your doctor and eliminate the possibility of an illness. The fact that some of these illnesses can be life-threatening, saving your life is way more important than saving your hair.
Fortunately for many of us who have lost or are losing our hair, there are remedies that can help us. Some are in the form of doctor prescribed medication that use synthetic materials and in many cases have unpleasant side effects to deal with. Others deal with natural products such as Saw Palmetto, which when formulated into an essential oil and herb solution, can be an effective method to restoring hair growth. There are always the surgical options to consider also but, anytime you talk surgical, you can expect high cost and uncomfortable recovery.
We highly recommend when we dealing with routine hair thinning or loss that you start with the natural and least expensive remedies first. Nobody wants to put themselves through painful and/or costly procedures. If the natural remedies work, it will be easy on your body and your pocketbook. These days we could all stand to save a little money, right?
