The area has some of the nations finest hotels, casinos, performance centres, stadiums, convention centres, theatres, museums, libraries, schools, parks, beaches, and infrastructure to support economic growth. On the tourist front, catch the Detroit Institute of Art, Charles H. Wright Museum of African American history, Henry Ford museum and of course the Motown museum.

Detroit has been through some tough times. But things are currently on a real and perfect time to catch the city. River town for jazz and blues bars, Greek town, packed with all things Mediterranean and the theatre district for upmarket bars and restaurants. The suburbs are also good for clubs and bars.

The Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge is the only international wildlife preserve in North America, uniquely located in the heart of a major metropolitan area.

The Refuge includes islands, coastal wetlands, marshes, shoals, and waterfront lands along 48 miles of the Detroit River and Western Lake Erie shoreline.

A continental climate which is influenced by the Great Lakes. Winters are cold with moderate snowfall. The earliest officially measurable snowfall occurred on October 12, 2006. Winters are generally cold, with night time temperatures sometimes dropping below 10, while summers are warm with temperatures sometimes exceeding 90. Average monthly precipitation ranges from about two to four inches. Snowfall, which typically occurs from November to early April, ranges from an average of 1 to 10 inches a month. The highest recorded temperature was 105 on July 24, 1934, while the lowest recorded temperature was 24 on December 22, 1872.

The City of Detroit, where you will discover a vibrant, diverse and cultural city on the go. As a city vibrant, lost and now in recovery, its a place both raw and refined, with gritty street art and edgy theatre, as well as remarkable museums and architecture. Yet, like many other things about the city, the culture here is subtle and discreet it requires seeking out. Yet, its impact is and always has been significant.
