Five years ago, my family and I moved into our new home. The first time we passed the threshold, we knew that it is the home for us. We live on a lake, so just imagine the view we have every single day. It is a beautiful morning sun that greets us each morning and a romantic reflection of the moon on the lake is the one that bids us goodnight. The entire house is designed beautifully. The bedrooms are nothing less than perfect for our needs. All the rooms are perfect. Well, almost perfect.

It was almost perfect because of the kitchen. Actually, the cabinets were still functioning, but they have stains of very dark walnut. Floral wallpaper adorns the walls. Those were alright, I guess. But what was troublesome was that there is not enough room in the kitchen for two or more people to work in. We really wanted to uplift the mood of our kitchen, but we were not ready to spend on remodeling.

Six months have passed since we moved into our home. My family and I then decided to do the kitchen design ourselves. We got to work on the cabinets and painted them off-white. We removed the wallpaper and borders and painted the walls instead. We used very light yellow to exude an aura of warmth in our kitchen. We bought a new exhaust hood and placed in over the cook top. When we were done with the minor changes, we were satisfied, but we knew that some things are still needed to be done.

Now, five years after, we are actually thinking of going on a full-blown kitchen design project. We have met with a contractor and were told that there was no way we could expand the kitchen area. However, we would still be able to save as much space as we can by rearranging pieces of furniture and the overall kitchen design. The contractor suggested several changes that will help increase space in our tiny kitchen, we liked his suggestions a lot and decided to push through with the project.

Our kitchen design project will begin next week. I can't wait to see the changes that our kitchen will be subject to. However, having a cozy, comfortable kitchen will definitely be worth the time, money and effort.
