First of all, depending on the weather outdoors, the first item you will usually consider bringing is a tent. If the weather might be too cold, you have a couple of alternatives. For one thing, you may opt to bring extra blankets and perhaps some kind of portable source of heat (make sure to take precautions with this) or even build a campfire.

Otherwise, you may want to consider bringing something like a camper instead, if the weather is predicted to be very cold during the weekend of your travel.

The next camping item you'll want to be sure to bring is food. Bring foods that can be consumed easily without much preparation. However, it's important to bring food that may be non-perishable such as canned goods. If anything happens and you end up stranded outdoors for an extra day or more, you will want to have food on hand that will not go bad before you have a chance to consume it!

Another critical camping item is a flashlight. When it gets dark outdoors, you'll need to see! Make sure to bring extra batteries, too. You may also bring candles, and if so, don't forget to bring along the matches.
