When deciding to buy another car people should first think of what they really need not of what they want. Sometimes buying an expensive truck will mean wasting money if you see later that your family could have easily managed with a simple car.
Money is important. The future buyer should consider all the expenses he will have to face not only the price of the car. Insurance, maintenance and fuel cost money. So before buying a car you should first write down how much money you have and how much will all these cost. Buying a truck could be more expensive than buying a car not to mention that it will need more fuel.
When going to check out a used car or a truck don't go alone. Ask a friend to come with you. This way you will be able to face the pressure the salesmen will apply. It would be even better if the friend would have some experience with used cars and trucks. This way you will get the vehicle at a fair price and will avoid being cheated by the salesman.
Also, remember never to go shopping at night. Some defects might not be seen and in the morning instead of a good car you wake up with a car that falls to pieces.
Pay a close look at the car/truck salesman. See if he is properly dressed, if he looks sincere and if he pays attention to what you tell him. If the salesman talks on the phone or deals with other customers while dealing with you, just walk away. It means that all he is interested is money and will rush you to buy a car you will definitely not appreciate later.
If you have found a used car or a used truck you like and want to buy it, ask the owner for the phone number and address of the previous owner. Then call the previous owner and ask him what is wrong with the car. This way you will know exactly what to aspect from that car. Also, before buying that used car/truck do call the National Highway Traffic Administration to see if that car has ever been recalled.
Having these tips in mind you can go buy a used car/truck without worrying that you might get cheated by the salesman.
