They are mostly found indoors but can be found outdoors. This is usually due to a heavy infestation indoors. They like tight places and this is usually why you find them mostly in cracks and crevices and mostly at night. But in a
home with a heavy infestation you'll find them everywhere day and night.
The German Cockroach is about 1/2 to 5/8 inches long and loves your home. Rid yourself of these as soon as possible or you'll be sorry. The old way of treating for German roaches is by cleaning out you cabinets and spraying around your baseboards. Some of the old timers still do this. But let me tell you, I've been treating for German roaches for about 13 years now and all this does is rid your home of these pests for a short period of time. They will move back into the wall and stay away from the sprays until the smell is gone and then they will return. Sure, you're going to kill a few. But they will return.
The best way I have found is to use baits. I've cleaned many homes of German roaches and it works. If you do it yourself than here's what you can do. Go to your local hardware store or home center and buy some Combat roach bait gel. I think Walgreen's carries this product. It usually comes in a syringe or tube and apply this gel in all cracks and crevices in your home. All kitchen cabinets ( you don't have to empty your cabinets ). Just apply it in
tiny dots about the size of a BB and no larger than a pea. Apply it to all corners of your cabinets and anywhere else you see roaches. Do a search on your favorite search engine for a product called Max Force Roach Gel. It's what the pros use.
Even boric acid works good. If you have a heavy infestation open up all your electrical switch plate covers and apply it in these.
