How to Take Dextrostat tablet

Take Dextrostat exactly as prescribed by health care provider. Dextrostat is available in CAPSULE form.

* Take the daily dose when you wake up to help prevent trouble in sleeping.

* Take the last dose for each day at least 6 hours before bedtime to help prevent trouble in sleeping.

* These capsules or tablets should be swallowed whole. Do not break, crush, or chew them before swallowing

What are the Side Effects of Dextrostat -

Like other medicines, Dextrostat can cause side effects. Some of the more common side effects of Dextrostat include

* Chest pain

* fever, unusually high

* Irregular heartbeat

* skin rash or hives

* uncontrolled movements of head, neck, arms, and legs

* False sense of well-being irritability nervousness restlessness trouble in sleeping

Dextrostat intraction with other drugs:

You cannot take Dextrostat (dextroamphetamine) if you have taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) such as Marplan (isocarboxazid), Parnate (tranylcypromine), or Nardil (phenelzine) in the last 14 days. Changes in insulin and other diabetes drug therapies may be necessary during treatment with Dextrostat.

Tell your doctor if you are taking other drugs.

Warnings and precautions before taking Dextrostat :

* Take the last dose for each day at least 6 hours before bedtime to help prevent trouble in sleeping.

* Dextrostat capsule must not be used during pregnancy as it may cause harmful side effects to the unborn child. Seek medical advice from your doctor.

* If you will be taking Dextrostat in large doses for a long time, do not stop taking it without first checking with your doctor .

* Talk with your physician or pharmacist if you are taking other medications along with Dextrostat.

* Breast Feeding - Mothers who are taking Dextrostat and who wish to breast-feed should discuss this with their doctor.

* Do not drink alcohol while taking Dextrostat. Alcohol may increase drowsiness caused by Dextrostat. It may also increase the risk of seizures.

* The safety and efficay of this medicine have not been studied in children and adolescents, hence it is not recommended for use in these age groups.

What if Overdose of Dextrostat tablet?

If you think you or anyone else taken overdose of Dextrostat, immediately telephone your doctor or contact your local or regional Poisons Information Centre Seek medical attention immediately. You may need urgent medical attention.

What if Missed Dose of Dextrostat tablet?

If you miss a dose of Dextrostat medicine and you remember within an hour or so, take the dose immediately. If you do not remember until later, skip the dose you missed and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double doses.

Storage Conditions for Dextrostat tablet :

Store Dextrostat tablet away from heat and direct light. Do not store Dextrostat the capsule or tablet form of this medicine in the bathroom, near the kitchen sink, or in other damp places. Heat or moisture may cause the medicine to break down.
