Take for example, putting or attaching a round object at the small of your back so you'll never sleep by lying on your back. As you can see, one of the reasons why snoring is produced is when a person sleeps on his back. The lower jaw, in this position, would drop open while the person is sleeping which produces vibration of the soft palate.
Now there is an invented ball made especially for snorers. It's called the Snore Ball and it's what most people who have problems in snoring purchase. This isn't a no-pain solution for the snorer though because it works like an alarm clock. Each time you the snorer falls to a deep sleep, lies on their back and starts to snore, the snore ball gives a loud wake up call. This is an effective way to keep the snorer conscious of their position during sleep.
Another thing, skip on drinking any alcoholic drink several hours before bedtime. Alcoholic drinks and anything which has antihistamines cause the nervous system which causes the muscles, especially the tongue (which is the strongest muscle of the body) to become extremely relaxed while sleeping.
And yet another solution you could try is to keep your bedroom humid. The reason is to only moisturize your throat while you sleep. It's because it has been found that when the snorer sleeps with a dry throat, it tends to vibrate more, producing a disturbing sound.
If it's not too much for your partner or roommate though, you can ask him/her to roll you over on your side each time you start to snore. But think of your partner's situation if this is the case. So, to avoid additional problems aside from snoring, try your best to keep these things in mind and remember, it's all a matter of discipline.
