Great Tips For Improving Your Digestion

Well the first step is to eat your meals properly. What this means is chewing your food thoroughly, eating slowly and taking smaller bites. For some us that may be difficult because we have gotten so used to rushing through our meals. If you find it difficult to slow down during your meal, try putting your fork down between each bite. Another way to improve your digestion is to drink plenty of water. Poor hydration can lead to constipation and re-occurring constipation can lead to inflammation of the intestinal lining. So try to incorporate water into your diet as much as possible.
Another way to improve your digestion is through an increased fiber intake. Fiber can be found in majority of foods, such as: dried fruit, beans, legumes, apples, and certain dairy products. Ground flaxseed is also a gentle laxative that can aid in proper digestion. Flaxseed is also beneficial if you suffer from chronic constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, and intestinal inflammation. And lastly, try to incorporate more good bacteria into your daily diet. There are approximately 400 different kinds of bacteria and yeasts in our digestive systems. Some good bacteria to keep in mind include Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium bifidum. Both of these bacteria aid in maintaining intestinal health and they can be found mostly in yogurt products. A helpful hint when choosing a good yogurt is to preferably find an organic product which specifies that the active cultures were added after pasteurization. Since heat destroys good and bad bacteria, buying a product that has been pasteurized will not provide you with healthy good bacteria. Therefore, if you suffer from digestive disorders, try applying some of these tips into your daily diet.
