Rugby Boots And How They Match Perfectly With Rugby Shirts
Vikram Kumar
Rugby game has quickly developed into a competition that entails not only of skill and strength but also on speed.  Due to this, players of this sport need good stability and support when it comes to shoes.  Lightweight performance Rugby boots are needed by players to show good playing techniques.  Rugby boots are the most important equipment used by players in the sport of Rugby.  They may also be the most expensive.
Since Rugby is played during winter and/or during bad weather, rugby boots must be made for soft and wet surfaces.  Rugby boots must also be designed to have enhanced grip that's useful during extreme movements.  The boots must provide good traction while being comfortable to ensure good control of the ball. Rugby shirts also need to be designed for any weather condition and must be comfortable enough for the rugby players.
Rugby boots are made for different skill levels.  Other things to consider when shopping for rugby boots are the field and weather conditions.  You may find rugby boots that suit your needs based on the position you play, the ground surface of the field you will play in, the toe and height of boots and the price.  Below are several types of rugby boots available in the market.
Types of Rugby Boots:
  1. Molded - With its numerous long narrow cleats or blades, this is usually used on hard natural grounds.  Pressure is distributed evenly for a more comfortable feel. These shoes are chosen for better traction and support while allowing players for better cutting than traditional shoes with round cleats.
    1. Screw-In - Light weight and are normally used on softer grounds. Back players usually use rugby boots with 6 cleats, 4 in the front and 2 in the heels while forward players have 8 cleats, 6 in the front and 2 in the heels.  These shoes also have replaceable cleats that are easy and quick to change.
      1. Slides - Worn off the playing field and can also be worn with rugby socks, these shoes slows down the wear and tear of rugby shoes.
        1. Kangaroo Leather - Known for its soft but snug fit, this is considered the most exclusive upper preferred by the most committed and best players.  It may not be the most durable though because of the soft leather.
          1. Calf-Skin Leather - Form-fitting and provides comfort, this very good leather upper is also more durable than Kangaroo leather which are usually worn by the casual to not too serious players.
            1. Synthetic Leather - This is considered the most durable upper due to its moisture resistant feature.  Also the most affordable and the lightest chosen by entry level players.
            2. When it comes to sizing, rugby boots are like regular shoes.  When you're a size 9 in normal everyday shoes, you'll also need the same size when ordering your rugby boots.  However, rugby boots are wider that sneakers to allow better fit and comfort.  The leather will stretch to conform to the shape of the foot of individual players.  A snug fit is very important so as not to feel any discomfort or pressure.  When trying on rugby boots, make sure that the toes reach all the way to the front of the boots while not touching the end providing for a ¼" to ½" space.
Caring for rugby boots is very easy.  Make sure to clean the boots after every wear.  The boots must be dried out after the every game especially after playing during bad weather like rain.  Leather food may be used on kangaroo and calf-skin leather so as to keep the leather supple and soft.  This will also minimize water retention in your rugby boots.
