Both John McCain & Sarah Palin have stated that if elected, they will do what they can to have Roe vs Wade overtuned. Since 1993, the crime rate, along with teen pregnancies, abortions, and school dropout rates, has been falling. If McCain and Palin are elected, and are successful in overturning Roe vs Wade, there will be a dramatic rise in those rates in 'red states' that are successful in outlawing abortions.

As a result of the 1973 Roe vs Wade ruling by the Supreme Court, women were finally able to get safe, legal abortions. Also in 1973, Dr. David Smith and Dr. Kenneth Jones discovered and widely publicized the condition known as Fetal Alcohol Syndrome(FAS). When a woman becomes intoxicated, inhibitions can disappear, so that they are more easily enticed into having sex. They may become pregnant and keep drinking, so that when they finally realize they are pregnant, even though they want to have children, they may have an abortion because they are afraid they will have a child afflicted with FAS.

The following is a quote that explains why FAS/FAE is a problem with such devastating consequences. "'The girls get knocked up and the boys get locked up.'" They are followers, easily misled, with little or no appreciation of consequences. Without intervention, many ride the justice system merry-go-round or become 'homeless street people'. In order to fully understand the insidious nature of the labyrinthe of problems we all face as a result of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders(FASD), there are some critical distinctions that need to be emphasized. As previously stated, the symptoms for these conditions run the gamut from the very severely retarded with distinct facial characteristics(FAS), to those afflicted with what are known as Fetal Alcohol Effects(FAE) whose facial features and IQ's are indistinguishable from the average child, and so many of these children go undiagnosed, so they are not given the treatment they need to help them lead a normal and crime free life.

Because many of those children afflicted with FAE are never properly diagnosed, they tend to have learning and behavioral problems throughout their lives, and many end up going to prison. There are five symptoms of FAE afflicted children that I consider to be highly indicative for predisposing a person to become involved in crime: poor judgment, vulnerable to manipulation and victimization, the inability to express empathy for others without being prompted to do so, a tendency to be easily influenced by others and susceptiblity to drug and alcohol abuse.

I strongly suspect that following WWII, as the middle class began to grow, they began to develop a thirst for alcohol. And, not knowing the dangers of drinking alcohol while being pregnant, many women began having FAS/FAE afflicted babies. And those FAE afflicted babies grew into alcohol susceptible teenagers, starting a never ending 'cycle of poverty', with babies having babies, so that "the girls get knocked up and the boys get locked up." But if Roe vs Wade is overtuned,we will fall right back in, and create a CRIME RATE CATASTROPHE!!!
