Acne Scar Natural Treatment
Christine Erickson
If you suffer from acne it is important that you get help; do not just accept it or assume it will go away. After an acne lesion heals it can leave a red or hyper pigmented mark on skin which can range dramatically in severity. There are four main categories for acne scarring and these include:
1. An ice pick scar. Which is the most common is essentially a deep pit that has large opening and gets harrower as ii penetrates the natural skin level.
2. The box car scar are typically angular scars similar to chicken pox scars that generally occur on the temple and cheeks. These scars can range from being superficial or very deep.
3. Rolling scars are simply scars which give the skin a wave like appearance.
4. Hypertonic scars - are thickened or keloid scars which appear to sit on top of the skins surface.
If you are among the individuals who have acne scars there are options available which can help lighten or completely remove them. These options include natural remedies, prescription or non prescription ointments and a variety of laser surgeries. Which treatment you undertake will largely depend on the type and severity of your scarring and ultimately what you are comfortable with.
There are a few natural options that may be of use to help diminish your acne scars. Vitamin C has been toted as one of the most effective treatments to treat all scars including acne scars. There are many Vitamin C products on the market to choose from, try visiting your local health food store or a store that carries a wide range of skin care products.
Another option is to try essential oils. There are a number of oils to choose from that are recommended in the treatment of scars. These essential oils include Tangerine, Frankincese, Lemon, Neroli, Rose, Rosewood, and Palmarosa; choose the oil that you find most appealing. If you find a fragrance offensive or unappealing chances are will not work as well as one your enjoy the smell of. Simply add two or three drops of your chosen essential oil to an ounce of liquid lanolin and apply to the affected area.
If natural options do not interest you there are also many non prescription and prescription ointments or topical cream that you may find useful. For these options it is best to talk to your pharmacist or doctor. Again which treatment that is chosen will greatly depend on the type and severity of your acne scarring. Surgical or laser options should be a last resort.
The best course of action is always prevention. If you have acne see your doctor or ask for a referral to a dermatologist. These professionals will be able to work with you to come up with a treatment plan that best suits your skin, your comfort level and your acne.
