Drop of Lemon
Lemon is an antiseptic, cleanser and astringent. That means a drop or two will dry out a pimple overnight, leaving little more than a small spot of red that will diminish as the day wears on.
To use this treatment, simply squeeze a few drops either directly on your pimple or to a cotton ball and apply. Because lemon juice can really dry out your skin, try to use it only on the affected area and on isolated pimples.
Working with Witch Hazel
Witch hazel is probably the world's first toner - it's a natural ingredient that is distilled from the witch hazel shrub. Some witch hazel products contain alcohol, but should be avoided as they can dry out the skin. Instead, look for a product that is diluted with water. Witch hazel should be applied like toner.
Oatmeal
There's a reason most natural skin care manufacturers make an oatmeal scrub - it cleanses the skin, sloughs off dead skin cells and dramatically reduces blackheads. To make an oatmeal scrub, simply mix oatmeal and water to a paste. Then, scrub gently and rinse off with water. Use the scrub a few times a week.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is great for the skin and an excellent toner substitute. It's known to lighten the skin, even out your skin tone, reduce blackheads and make the pores appear smaller and more refined. If it's too strong, try diluting it with one part water to two parts apple cider vinegar.
Surprising Toothpaste
While not as natural as the other homemade acne treatments listed above, a dab of toothpaste is a great way to reduce the size and appearance of a single pimple. If you're prone to breakouts due to stress or before an important event, simply apply a small amount of toothpaste directly to the pimple. Overnight, it will dry out the pimple. Like lemon juice, avoid applying it to the entire face or anywhere other than the target area.
Mask from Egg White
To reduce the appearance of pores, try an egg white mask. Simply mix together one egg white, a teaspoon of honey, a couple drops of lemon juice and then smooth it over your face. Let the mask sit for no more than 15 minutes or until you feel it dry and tighten. Then, peel it off and wash your face.
Finally, probably the best and least expensive of all the homemade acne treatments is drinking water. Try to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day for great looking skin. Of all skin treatments, the daily drinking of water is the most effective of all over the long term.
