The constitution from 1949 guarantees all citizens and foreigners equality before the law, the right to own property and freedom of speech.

But let's get back to the essence of this article, the cost of living in Costa Rica. To be able to crunch numbers and compare the cost of living with other countries I have created a list of goods and prices. Clientele can select between severalsupermarket chains. In addition the typical pulperias present an alternative way to buy several supplies. Pulperias also serve as social centers where people chat with friends and neighbors. Prices are slightly higher in pulperias.
Fruits and vegetables can also be purchased to some extent cheaper and fresher at the local farmers' markets.
