Diamonds are sold across the world and are bought for many reasons. If Fred for example was given one as a present he would be an extremely lucky man. Diamonds are traditionally given as a symbol of love in the form of a ring, either for an engagement or a wedding. Diamond rings are considered to be one of the most beautiful gifts one can get.

Sold in different shapes and sizes, diamond rings can be found at pretty much any high street store operating in the jewellery business including which has a particularly good selection. Although sold in various forms, nearly 80% of diamonds are sold as a round stones. But whether they are round, oval or even square, diamond rings are absolutely stunning and maintain their supremacy. This is because firstly, no matter what the economic climate, diamond rings always maintain their value. Secondly, its beauty is so pure that its value continues. And thirdly, diamonds are one of the hardest substances in the world and therefore are all but impossible to damage or break.

Diamonds originate from various countries around the world. The majority of them are situated in Africa (they include South Africa, Sierra Leone, Ghana, and the Ivory Coast) and have caused many arguments resulting in national conflicts. This was depicted in the film Blood diamond featuring Leonardo DiCaprio and Djimon Hounsou. Diamonds can also be found in South America and parts of the Far East including China and India. These precious stones are then exported out of these countries and delivered to four major cutting centres around the world; Antwerp, Tel Aviv, New York and Bombay. It is here that the diamonds are then cut and turned into products that can be sold in various international markets all over the world.
