It is never too late to start getting fit and healthy by exercising. It is true that you can start exercising at any age. It definitely is one of the smart decisions of your life. But before you begin exercising there are several things you should be aware of and these are of prime importance for your safety.
Medical advice is a must before you start exercise. The medical advice is important for a number of reasons. First of all it will tell you whether you are fit for exercise. If you go to the doctor make sure that you tell him about any preexisting conditions. If you are diabetic or have high blood pressure then it is absolutely essential that you go to your doctor for consultation. Pregnant women can exercise but there may be a few exercises which they are not supposed to do. Your doctor will be able to suggest exercises which you can do during pregnancy.
Safety is very important if you are embarking on an exercise schedule. This safety is about exercising safely without damaging your self to cause trouble with your bones and muscles. For that reason make sure exercise gear that you select is good. Now if you going to have running sessions then go for running shoes with a thick sole and from a reputed manufacturer. The reason is simple that if you do not have good shoes and start running then you are more than likely to hurt your feet and the knees.
Running means a lot of sweat so make sure that you clothes which can keep you cool. Different clothes are needed depending on what kind of exercises you are doing. If you are more into Pilates, yoga or kick boxing then you need fitted clothes. With these fitted clothes you can easily move your body and still be comfortable. But if you have stared playing sports then may be you need a bit of loose clothing to help you be flexible and move your arms and legs easily in a free manner.
With all this the other thing to think about is about the exercise itself. Before you begin exercising you need to think twice about what you are truing to achieve with the exercise. If you are aiming for a weight loss then make sure that you set goals for yourself. If it is about being fit then set a schedule for everyday exercise regimen.
