Acute Kidney Failure Symptoms
Paul Justice
Acute kidney failure is a serious condition in which a loss in function is found in the kidneys that no longer allows them to remove urine and other waste without also losing electrolytes. Acute kidney failure happens very suddenly and is dangerous so it is considered a medical emergency. Some of the causes of acute kidney failure include decreased blood flow, which can be during childbirth that results in hemorrhaging, and other tendencies that amount to clotting within the thin blood vessels of the kidney. Patients that endure acute kidney failure can experience the following symptoms: stoppage in urination, ankle, leg, and feet swelling, fluid retention, fluctuations in mood, loss of appetite, high blood pressure, nosebleeds, and seizures.
Since acute kidney failure is heavily linked to liquid retention, the treatment plan for a patient with acute kidney failure is to limit the amount of liquid intake. This is to be consistent in limiting liquid that the patient can eat and drink proportionate to the amount of urine that can be produced naturally. Some complications that might arise when experiencing acute kidney failure are later stage renal disease, heart complications, loss of blood in the intestines, and chronic kidney problems. If you are currently experiencing any complications with producing urine and or incurring swelling all over the body you are showing some signs of acute kidney failure, it is imperative for you to seek medical attention.
One of the causes of acute kidney failure, the decreased blood flow from surgery has a story behind it. A drug called Trasylol was predominately used in heart surgeries to limit the amount of blood, sound familiar? Well it should. Trasylol has been liked to cause kidney failure in patients that had been administered the drug. After patients were administered Trasylol in surgery, they experienced acute kidney failure, heart problems, strokes, and even death. These patients had no idea where these other problems were coming from the use of Trasylol. The thing is that the patients had no idea that they were given the drug because no one ever told them. The manufacturers of Trasylol, Bayer Pharmaceuticals did their own study linking the drug to the negative side effects but never told anyone. The FDA took Trasylol off the market in November of 2007, however Bayer knew about the adverse side effects years before thus causing thousands of deaths.
If you or a loved one has suffered from any of the possible harmful effects of Trasylol, such as kidney problems, heart attack or stroke, you may be entitled to file a legal claim against the drugs manufacturer.
