It just depends on how far you want to go with your editing. The more you are able to edit the better the result will be. The key though is to learn how to use your software. Once you do then you will have the control or sharpness or cropping just to name a few. There are many features that you will have that will enhance your images.

Remember though that when you start to buy high-end digital software programs they are more complex and going take longer to learn. In addition, there will be a practice period with them as well. It is a good idea to start with a basic program first, and master it. Then if you decide, you want to do more, go out and buy one of the more advanced packages. This way you will be somewhat familiar with what the various levels of software can do.
