Educational Toys For 2 Year
Aaron Vaughn
Whether it's just learning to recognize voices for future comfort or it's the beginning of early word recognition is a matter of debate, but the fact that babies begin learning about their environment from even before Day One isn't.
Considering this, it's important for parents to begin stimulating their young learner's curiosity as soon as possible. This is where educational toys can really help.
Educational toys come in a number of different sizes, shapes and price ranges. They don't have to cost a small fortune, either, to help a child develop thought processes, basic skills and more. They can even be handmade and still pack a real punch when it comes to helping a baby learn and grow.
Here are some ideas for helping to develop different skills in a baby:
Motor skills: Any toy that encourages your little one to open, push, pull, tug and so on can help develop motor skills and hand-eye coordination. From simple blocks to elaborate lighted toys with tons of buttons and dials, they all can do the trick for helping a child learn to use their hands to manipulate their environment to make things happen.
Musical toys: Stimulating a young child's mind, these toys tend not only to delight babies, they also are great for helping to develop an early appreciation for music and can often help with such things as pattern recognition and so on.
Letter/number toys: Whether they're blocks with letters and numbers printed on them, or toys that sing the alphabet and numbers, they all begin to familiarize a young mind with the symbols. Toys that offer both spoken and visual stimulus are fantastic for making a child feel more comfortable with letters and numbers and can help ease the learning process down the road.
Pull up/walking toys: Recommended by some, frowned on by others, these toys can still prove beneficial in helping baby develop strength and balance. They should never be used, however, without direct adult supervision.
Cause and effect: Many toys developed for babies help them come to grips with this concept. "If I push the blue bunny, a beeping sound happens" is basically the extent of what these toys teach, but that's a big lesson for a little one and a great confidence booster.
Books: The importance of these even from Day One cannot be understated. Children who are read to on a regular basis tend to develop their reading skills quicker and more effectively than children who don't. Youngsters who see their parents reading for enjoyment, too, want to get in on the act and learn. Half the battle in teaching a child to read is inspiration. Start out with board books and let the little one get familiar with holding books and seeing words. As skills develop, move up from there. No matter what, read to your children.
Educational toys are very important in helping a child learn to develop important lifelong skills. They don't have to cost an arm and a leg to be effective either.
The vital thing for parents to remember is that children who are read to and played with feel secure to explore and learn.
